Asaf Amit's Story

My journey began in a rural Israeli village. Until the age of eleven, I enjoyed a peaceful and vibrant childhood. It was suddenly overshadowed by tragedy when a car accident claimed the lives of my father and younger brother, leaving me with severe and sustaining injuries. Deeply impacted by this traumatic event, I was drawn to express myself through painting and writing. At college, I chose to pursue studies in product design, which ultimately led to an interest, and career, in architectural engineering.
Though I have been successfully working as a residential building architect for nearly two decades, I have however concurrently struggled with the PTSD rooted in my childhood trauma. Over the last few years, I decided to dedicate my evening time to dissecting and documenting my complex experience with trauma, resulting in a novel that explores both the lingering power of lost boyhood memories and the profound influence of past trauma on our present lives. That novel, The Shine of Sorrowful Youth, is available for purchase at Amazon.
Currently, I reside with my wife and three sons in Lexington, Massachusetts, and spend my time writing my next novel.
